i tried to write a poem,
a minstrel can help me out
perhaps
a wandering bard.

i tried to write a poem,
be a magister amoris
and for nature and nurture
but nothing came

i tried to write a poem,
maybe an elegy
or a fabulous epic
though my brain is in void

i tried to write a poem,
of a by gone age
of birth and growth
yet my voice is numb

i tried to write a poem,
to kill my thoughts
and to the elixir of life
make them real for once

i tried to write a poem,
create characters of perfection
and a land of happy happy joy joy
and eternal youth and beauty

i tried, i really tried
yet reality strikes
and reality bites
im not in a dream

i am wide awake...
